WHY YOUR PARTNER SHOULD BE YOUR ONLY OPTION

Have you ever wondered why most relationships fail? There was a story I heard about a couple that have been together for 15 years. All of a sudden the man came home one fateful evening and told his wife that he’s no longer interested in the marriage because he no longer finds her attractive.
Seriously! Did he expect the woman to look exactly like when he first met her after giving him four lovely kids?  I couldn’t help but marveled how two people could split up after living together for such a long time. Such a case could only happen when one of the partners thinks that he/she has got other options

.
Have you noticed that human beings tend to invest all their energy and time on something when it seems that there’s no other way (option) out of that thing? The kind of flimsy excuses couples give for leaving their partners and their relationships make me wonder if they actually understood what the meaning of the word “love” really is. The moment you see your partner as your only option, you see yourself always thinking of ways to make your relationship workout no matter the challenges you might be experiencing in such relationship.

When one of the partners start thinking that there are other options, then he or she would start exaggerating the faults of the other so as to justify their reasons for leaving. There was a quote I got somewhere that says ‘love covers up a multitude of sins.’ The love you have for your partner should propel you to always want to give them your best and ensure that your relationship is a success. But, the moment you stop seeing your partner as your only option, you stop looking for ways to make your relationship work, rather you pray for it to crumble so that you can go to your other option.

It’s only those that think that they’ve got other options that stop fighting for the success of their relationship or marriage. When you understand that your partner is your only option, then you don’t struggle to give him/her your time, your dedication and your affection. The way you relate with you partner and your relationship is largely dependent on your response to this question, ‘is he or she your only option?’
