Mount up!
Up on a Mountain!
Up on a Mountain!
"And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him." Matthew 5:1
Only disciples will ascend up on a mountain, just to spend time with the Lord. Whereas, the multitudes will always be comfortable in the plain/valley. The plain is always crowded and full of distractions, hence it is a mixed multitude
.
Mountaineering is not an easy exercise. It takes discipline, dedication and determination to surmount a mountain.
Mounting up is a spiritual adventure that entails cutting off the distractions of this world to spend time with God. It's a time of worshipping and learning at His feet. It is never a fun fare to the flesh, yet the spirit man is built up by this. The quality of these communion is a determinant of how far one will soar in the spirit.
The Longest sermon of Jesus was taught in such a mountain experience (Matt5-7). It was a summit, where Jesus taught about the kingdom lifestyle. Matters like this are only revealed to disciples. It was also in a mountain He was transfigured before Peter, James and John. (Matt17:1-2).
Mounting up can be a daily practise. It is a call to fellowship with God (Exo19:23, 31:18), a call to intimacy (Mark 3:13, 9:2, 13:3) and a call to a higher life (Rev4:1, 11:12). There our strength is renewed as an eagle (Isaiah 40:31).
".... let us go up to the mountain of the Lord..." (Isaiah 2:3)
