COMMON ATTRIBUTES OF A POSSESSIVE PARTNER

So many people have been maimed and some lives made very miserable because they hooked up with partners that are very possessive. It is important you know why your partner do some things for you in that relationship because
not all actions stem from love. Some acts our partners display toward us a times are done not because they love us but because they want to put us under their control. That is why it is important for you to observe your partner so as to know if he/she is doing things for you out of love or
as a means to manipulate you and put you under their control.

There’s a huge difference between being thoughtful and romantic and being possessive. There are some acts that our partner may display at the beginning of our relationship that we may describe as being thoughtful and romantic that we may later resent because they are doing it because they want to put us in check.

How do you identify a potential possessive partner from the onset in your relationship? There are qualities that these set of people display that if we look at them closely, we may see their real intentions for putting forward such actions. Some people do it unconsciously while some do it so skillfully that if you are not good at observing, you would never know their real intention for doing what they do until you’re very much attached to them.

Understand that it is not wrong to be possessive to some extent because it shows that you value and are proud of what you have. But doing it to the extent that your partner won’t have the space to do something else or be themselves whenever them are around you is what I am talking about here. One problem with these other set of possessive people is that they get overly suspicious and become violent when they feel that you’re not giving them enough information about your where about at every point in time. These are the group of possessive freaks that one should be wiry of. Below are some tips to help you identify some common traits of a possessive partner.
  • They bombard you with Excessive calls and text messages:

Initially, this action may really seem thoughtful and romantic, but later on it starts getting tiring and boring; not because you don’t want to hear your partner’s voice or get their messages, but because the calls and messages are just so meaningless and stereotypical that it begins to piss one off.

Can you imagine someone calling his/her partner up to five times in a day and repeat the same words again and again? There was this guy that would call his partner several times in a day and won’t utter a word each time he called. He just wanted to hear the voices on the background in order for him to know whether his girlfriend is in the company of fellow ladies or guys.

Possessive people are very suspicious, hence they would want to know your where about at every point in time. The moment you discover such type of behavior in your partner, you better watch it carefully so that you won’t end up regretting it in the end.
  •  They always demand to know where you are at every point in time:

If the first information he/she demands to know from you whenever he/she calls is your location, you should watch it because that might be a sign that he/she is possessive partner. A Possessive partner will always want to know where you are at every point in time. They keep tabs on you and watch your every step. Some may even ask friends and colleagues to help them keep eyes on you and inform them on your every move like you’re their puppy.

Should you discover such attribute in your partner, you either call him/her to order or you find your way because you can hardly live freely in a relationship with a possessive partner.
  • They dictate for you where you should or shouldn't go:

There are times our partner will tell us not to be in a particular place at a particular time because such a place is dangerous to us or someone might hurt us there, that is very understandable. But when he/she is the one always dictating where you should be and where you shouldn’t be without any cogent reason, then he/she is likely going to be very possessive.

One line possessive partners use when you ask them why they don’t want you to be in a particular place is,’I just don’t want you to be there because I don’t like it’. This is a very clear sign that he/she is trying to control your life. When you notice such in him or her, you either call him/her to order or call off the relationship if you know you can’t take it before it will be too late.
  • They try to choose your friends for you:

A possessive person will always want to chose for you whom to be with and whom not to be with. They most times find fault with the people you call your friends and try to choose new friends for you. when someone you’re in a relationship with is always telling you not to be in the company of a particular set of people without any reason why you shouldn’t be with them, understand that he/she is just trying to control your life.

Yes, there are friends we have that become bad influence in our lives that we need to separate from in order for our lives to move forward. But if his/her concern for asking you not to be in the company of a particular set of people is not about you, but about himself/herself, then you should know that he/she is just trying to control your life.

  •  They are always very clingy whenever you are together in public:

They always want to show every one that you are theirs and under their control, so they would want to do everything possible in other to show that. though showing off ones partner might be a sign that he/she is serious about you and proud to be with you, but when such a person is always doing it like he/she has something to prove that you can’t seem to have a breathing space whenever both of you are together in public, then that is a sure sign that he/she is trying to tell you that you are under his/her control and shouldn’t do anything otherwise.
  • They get angry whenever any member for the opposite sex comes close to you:

There was this story of a guy that beat up his girl friend black and blue because he saw a guy drop her off. It’s later on that he discovered that the guy was the younger brother of his girl friend that just got back from a neighboring country where he was schooling.

A possessive person will hardly ask questions when they see you with another member of the opposite sex, even when they ask and you try to explain to them who the person is; he or she will think you are telling lies. That is why I advice single people to be very careful of the kind of person they give themselves to.

Possessive people are not only just possessive but extremely jealous. They take actions most times before trying to find out. Before you will have time to prove your innocence he/she might have carried out whatever he/she may have in mind. So it is very important you avoid these sets of people if you know you value your peace of mind and life.

A Possessive partner will always think you owe him/her an explanation for every action that you take. The problem with them is that they hardly believe your explanation irrespective of how truthful it may seem. That is why these categories of people should be avoided because they are very likely to get violently whenever they feel that they are losing the control they have over you. You need to observe when your partner is being thoughtful and romantic and when they are being possessive, so you can call them to order or note the next step of action you should take. It is up to you.
